Consultations

For our members, we offer free advice on social security matters by appointment and, to a limited extent, advice on legal matters. When making an appointment (by telephone or e-mail), please provide us with brief information about your question.

Tip: Survival Training for Artists

In addition, we organise regular public information events (Survival Training for Artists) on basic issues concerning taxes, social security and other topics. See also our factsheets.

 

  • Consultation on social security issues
    Consultations always take place on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. with Daniela Koweindl (cultural policy spokesperson for IG Bildende Kunst). Consultation is free of charge for members. Currently, the consultation takes place exclusively by telephone or via Zoom.

  • Consultation on residence and employment
    Consultations take place on Wednesdays from 2 to 4 p.m. with Birgit Mennel (social and legal counseling, aliens law). Consultation is free of charge for members. Currently, consultations take place by telephone. Please contact the IG Bildende Kunst office to make an appointment.

  • Advice on tax matters
    Consultation on specific questions per Email. The service is intended to provide support with specific individual questions, is aimed exclusively at members and is free of charge. We also have compiled a list of tax advisors and accountants who have extensive experience in tax matters with artists and are familiar with the relevant regulations concerning the Social Insurance Institution for the Self-employed (SVS) and the Artists’ Social Insurance Fund (KSVF). The initial meeting about the conditions is usually free of charge.

  • Initial consultation on other legal issues
    In Vienna, legal counseling appointments are held with Karin Gmeiner (attorney at law). The consultations take place once a month, are exclusively for members and are free of charge. Please register via IG Bildende Kunst. Currently, the consultation takes place exclusively by telephone or via Zoom. Karin Gmeiner is a self-employed lawyer, her practice areas include contract law, art law, copyright law, tort/warranty law and general civil law. For members who do not live in Vienna or the Vienna area, legal consultations with certain contract lawyers throughout Austria are possible within the framework of our legal advice insurance.
